Representative Michael Day at Insight Recovery: Building Connections and Raising Awareness

This week, we had the pleasure of hosting Representative Day at Insight Recovery Treatment Center. Representative Day and his Legislative Aide, Talia, visited our facility to learn more about our program and the work we’re doing to combat addiction and support mental health in our community. Their visit was an opportunity to showcase our mission, share our stories, and discuss the ongoing challenges and progress in addressing addiction and alcoholism.

A Community Conversation

During their tour, we emphasized the need for a program like Insight Recovery in our community. While there have been significant strides in raising awareness and de-stigmatizing addiction over the years, we all agreed that this work must continue with constant effort and collaboration. Addiction and alcoholism know no boundaries—they can affect anyone, regardless of where they live or their background. Programs like Insight Recovery are essential in providing support and hope to those who need it most.

Personal Stories of Struggle and Hope

Steve Kent, the Co-Founder and Executive Director, and Jon Baer, the Director of Business Development, shared their personal journeys of addiction and recovery. These stories were the foundation of what led us to open Insight Recovery Treatment Center. By sharing these experiences, we aim to inspire others and show that recovery is possible. Representative Day and Talia were deeply engaged and open to hearing these stories, which reinforced the importance of what we do every day.

Highlighting the Importance of Mental Health

One key topic during our discussions was the critical role mental health plays in addiction and recovery. Addiction is not just a physical struggle but also a mental and emotional one. Addressing mental health needs alongside addiction is essential for long-term success, and it’s a cornerstone of the care we provide at Insight Recovery.

Support from Rep Day

Representative Day shared his perspective on the challenges our community has faced with addiction over the years. He expressed his understanding of the struggles and his commitment to supporting initiatives like ours. It was encouraging to see his willingness to help in any way necessary and his openness to future collaborations. Together, we discussed the possibility of organizing future events where Insight Recovery can raise awareness and address these pressing issues on a larger scale.

Moving Forward Together

Representative Day’s visit was a reminder of the power of community and collaboration in tackling addiction and promoting mental health. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our mission and experiences with him and Talia. Their support is a testament to the growing awareness of these issues and the collective effort needed to make a difference.

At Insight Recovery, we remain committed to creating a safe, supportive, and accessible environment for individuals on their recovery journey. Representative Day’s visit reaffirmed the importance of this mission, and we look forward to working together to bring hope and healing to our community.

If you’re interested in learning more about Insight Recovery or joining us in our mission, don’t hesitate to reach out. Together, we can continue to make strides in breaking the stigma and providing the support our community deserves.
